One eye sees, the other feels (Paul Klee).
Landscape inspired paintings combine what I see with what I feel. Ideas mature in my sketchbooks, thoughts and studio, sometimes for several months. Collage is an integral part of my process.
An experience + a feeling + words = a painting.
A background in art history, teaching of art and English, everyday experiences and an interest in current affairs, provides my inspiration.
Feeling and Revealing, a solo exhibition at Smallhythe Studio last autumn was an emotional highlight of 2019 for me, in which I revealed some of the ideas and processes behind my work.
I have loved being a co-ordinator for South East Open Studios since 2014 and regularly take part in other art events and exhibitions. Working in the Kent countryside, I also teach, run art workshops and curate contemporary art exhibitions.
